Very much like the European horse-drawn carriages, the Kalesa was a popular means of transportation in the Philippines before the advent of motorized vehicles.
At present, there are still a few Kalesas that ply the streets of Metro Manila, most especially in Chinatown (Binondo) and the Walled City of Intramuros.
